SHUMATE - Funeral services for William Yager Shumate (75) of Bryceville, Florida will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Rountree of Light House Baptist Church officiating. The interment will immediately follow in Verdie Cemetery, Bryceville, Florida. Mr. Shumate was born in Algoma, West Virginia on May 30, 1934, son of the late Ira Shumate and the former Ora Michem. He passed away on February 13, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida following a lengthy illness. His survivors include: two sons, Bo (Anita) and John Whittemore; daughter, Diane (Frankie) Nash; two grandsons, Jeremy (Charleen) Whittemore and Joe (Amy) Nash; four granddaughters, Margie (Daniel) Shrader, Tracy (Jonathan) DeLaCruz, Heather (A.J.) Lloyd and Kari Wessinger; seven great grandchildren, Jonathan, Macy, Mylee, Chaly, Brayden, Miranda and Isaiah. He was preceded in death by: wife, Jeanette Shumate; grandson, Kaleb Whittemore; two sisters, Myrtle Quesenberry and Marie Harris; three brothers, Estel, Elbert and Coy Shumate. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
