BRADDOCK-  Funeral services for Everette Philip Braddock (90) of Baldwin, Florida will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Baldwin with Pastors Ray Mayfield and Chris Drum officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Brandy Branch Cemetery, Bryceville, Florida. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 in the chapel of Prestwood Funeral Home. Born on February 18, 1927 in Baldwin, Florida, Everette graduated from Baldwin High School in 1945 and was honorably discharged after his service in the U.S. Marine Corps. After 43 years of service, Everette retired from CSX. In Baldwin, Everette served as Town Councilman, Municipal Judge and Town Mayor for 16 years. During his time as Mayor, he served as President of the N.E. FL League of Cities, started a sewer program, built a new City Hall, built a new Health Center, updated the Police Dept, cars, uniforms and radio equipment, made major improvements to the Water System, and was instrumental in getting paved streets in Baldwin attracting Florida Steel and MCI to build in the town. He was a devout Christian and member of First Baptist Church in Baldwin for 40 years, serving in many roles, including teaching Sunday School, Deacon and Choir Director. Everette had an outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger and always going out of his way to help someone or give them a job. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joyce Fielding Braddock; sons, Chuck (Annette) Braddock and Kevin Braddock; grandchildren, Jeffrey Braddock, Joshua Braddock and Kristen Braddock; great grandchildren, Amelia Wilson, Reme Dunham, Val Dunham, Jr. and Velleanna Dunham; brother, Marvin (Mary Francis) Braddock; numerous other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaley Braddock. Those serving as pallbearers include: Vernon Harris, Harry Fouraker, Richard Bradford, Dwight Braddock, Josh Braddock and Thomas Braddock. Honorary pallbearers include: Jeff Braddock and Fulton Williamson. We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, but the best celebration of all is when a loved one leaves this earthly body to be joined with the Father who created us. We knew that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly. In death, we do the same. It breaks our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide and although we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. You are forever loved.
